Foundational Hand
Foundational Hand is a structured study of broad-edge calligraphy, developed through years of teaching the script in live and online workshops. It is an excellent introduction for beginners, while its emphasis on precision, proportion, and structure makes it equally valuable for more experienced calligraphers looking to refine their technique.
The program covers the essential principles of Foundational Hand, including letter construction, spacing, and rhythm. We study both minuscule and majuscule alphabets before moving beyond the basics to punctuation, numbers, diacritics, and variations in weight.
